The Heart of Texas captures the tension and moral dilemmas faced by its characters, leaving viewers to wrestle with the consequences of their choices. With its dynamic storytelling and impactful visuals, this film lingers in the mind long after the credits roll.
The Heart of Texas is a surprisingly complex drama about what happens when morality gets in the way of your dreams.
It's so intense... in just under 15 minutes... to be able to shape a story, relay all the information, the emotional stakes of our characters, thats a tall order. Not everyone can do that, but Gregory accomplishes it.
A powerful short on the intersection of bad luck and systemic inhumanity that negates even the best intentions and the desire to help those in need. A fully committed performance from Lauren Noll.

Great moral dilemma with interesting and extreme characters. More than anything else, this short is carried by its editing. There is a lot of setup needed here that a less-skilled team would not have been able to fit into the runtime. However, The Heart of Texas manages to give you a ton of exposition with stylish montages without breaking the serious tone of the piece.

From the incredible writing to the outstanding directing, the film put us, the audience, right into the driver's seat. We felt like we were the main character, Janie May Collins (played by Lauren Noll to perfection)! Loved that the story puts Janie, and the audience, in a difficult situation, having to make a tough decision, without politicizing it.
